People are not born fuctup. They are conditioned to become so. It can even be seen with animals.
That is one of the first branches that occurred within the human race. Most cultures developed some form of coping mechanism to avoid raising the issue caused by the realization that Loving Coitus did not exist.
All of them created the disastrous assumption there was nothing to be done about it. Pride, shame, and guilt were at stake. What a shame.
The first rule was: don't talk about it. Unfortunately, that led to the presumption, over time, that there was nothing to be done about it.
Each culture reacted differently.
In the East, the developed that into a way of life referred to as Saving Face. India's culture seems to have come the closest to accepting openly that something needed to be done (think Kama Sutra).
The west, very early on, had to cope with the realization, like no other culture, because of Sappho (and maybe others) who would not remain silent. They would not shut up (to put it in misogynistic male terms). It drove certain behaviours.
All praise possible should be heaped on Sappho. The destructive force of rutting coitus cannot be overcome without confronting it. If the male gender of most of the world (excluding, at least, the early acceptance in India) had confronted the issue earlier, admitted there was something to be learned, the human race could have avoided a lot of destruction and progressed as a sentient race thousands of years ago. What can be done to succeed at Loving Coitus could have been accomplished any time in the last three millennia, at least. It seems so unlikely to happen that way as to be classified as impossible but the human race was capable all along.
Considering the apparent scarcity of sentient aliens, maybe it is even worse (I am averse to using 'intelligent aliens', since it takes more than intelligence to fulfill the sentient state. far more). Maybe most sentient races wipe themselves out. There is another alternative that does not need to be considered at this juncture. We are almost there.
Can you begin to see how fascinating this would be to knock around with someone? I hope you get the chance.
I have often suggested that the Human race, once it becomes wholly Human, may decide it is not worth the effort to delve into the madness that their predecessors inhabited.
I am no longer so sure. That may have been just due to bitterness at my own lonely struggle. Or, it may be true.
What I just wrote, though, goes to the heart of it. Maybe straightening it all out will make it more palatable to consider, though always completely appalling to accept.
The quandary of Women is another story entirely and this begins to clarify the picture of our past thoroughly. It leads to their own version of fuctuppedness.
Try as they might to love a man, the love is diminished if not totally rejected by almost every man. It is subverted by unseen forces. They try and try and try, many for their whole lives. They will blame themselves rather than give up.
It is truly stunning.
Of course, it wears them down. Of course, some will get so worn down that they will succumb to the male mania, the male madness, accepting that there is nothing to be done.
This is one of the reasons I consider this all so urgent. The male madness seems to be winning.
I could be wrong. If there is not a return to wholesale viciousness and male dominance in the immediate future, then, maybe, just maybe, humanity has already turned the corner. It won't be because men didn't try to turn the world upside down, once again.
There are signs this is true. We are about to find out if it is so. The hate is boiling over as it has so many times in the past. Will humanity let it boil over or will they need to take a stand to the last man? We will see shortly.
